I need some advice on my options in a very bad situation. 6 years ago I agreed to cosign a studen tloan for a family member. I agreed to one loan, but my family member continued to use me as a cosigner for subsequent loans without my knowledge. I have known about this for 6 years and have not reported it. The loans are in deferment until my family member starts working and pay them off. Attempts at consolidation have been made in order to remove me from the loans and free up my credit, but companies will not conolidate until my family member can provide 2 pay stubs. I am sick of my credit score suffering because of this, I want to buy a home and cannot get a loan because of this issue. What are my options? Is there a statute of limitations for reporting fraud since I've known a bout it for so long? Thank you.
