Fair Use Question

Good Morning all,

I am a Canadian resident and would love to start a YouTube channel with the intent of monetizing my content. I am curious where fair use falls in the realm of a news channel based around television shows (castings, renewals, cancellations and other similar news). It is my understanding that news is covered under fair use correct as long as i quote my sources? Would fair use then also cover images and short video clips used in the same way?

Did you get that "understanding" from an intellectual property attorney.

If not, I suggest you hire one and get proper legal advice before you start any endeavor with the intent to "monetize" it.

Canadian broadcasting laws are VERY different from US laws, as I have had reason to learn first hand recently, and this is primarily a US board. You really need to address this with a Canadian attorney.
