Where do I start

I hope I can get a starting point here. I have been married for 14 years and have a 12-year-old son. My wife has been an alcoholic for at least the last year and a half; I have only recently discovered how bad it is. The issue is she drives with my son while intoxicated, drives often while intoxicated. I am horrified by this, and fear for my son's safety. I have taken her keys etc… I need to leave and somehow control her access to him, at least when she is drinking. Where do I start? Can I legally just leave, move with my son. Obviously since I am posting here, I am in financial embarrassment due to her spending habits and losing her job.
Any help would be appreciated,
Mike

Until a court says otherwise either of you have rights to the child.

I would see an attorney and file for divorce and ask for custody of the child.

You can certainly ask for alcohol tests and ask for supervised visits but it does not mean it will happen.

I would not move far away. Courts dont like it when one parent moves far away with a child.

Thanks for the response. I do not want to move him away, or keep him from her, only stop the exposure to the alcoholic behavior, drama, and drunk driving.
Thanks again,
Mike
