We hosted a wedding celebration at an outdoor pavilion with 115 guests. The pavilion was rented from the city which required all setup and cleanup be performed on the same day of the event. We rented a portable toilet from a company and signed an agreement for delivery and pickup the day of the celebration. The company then attempted to deliver the toilet one day early but we showed the delivery drivers the contract and turned them away. The next day, on the day of the event, the company did not deliver the toilet. There were public restrooms about 150 yards away but several of our guests were either elderly or young children. We convinced some of our elderly guests to come by reassuring them the facilities would be available. Inconveniencing our honored guests, especially the elderly, was not pleasant to deal with. We telephoned the owner three times that evening but he told us he was unable to contact the drivers. We waited several days for the company to contact us. An apology and a reimbursement of our pre-payment would have been appropriate but we did not hear anything from them until we finally emailed them. We are seeking to be compensated for the disaster they created. No convenient toilet services, having to make several unpleasant and stressful phone calls to try and get the toilet delivered instead of being able to enjoy our wedding celebration were very upsetting for me and my wife. This company does not seem to grasp the seriousness of what happened. Our attempts to negotiate in good faith have been resisted. We have not sensed one bit of good customer service or focus. They finally asked what we would consider as a reasonable settlement and also for the basis for our calculation. We are not seeking to get rich by any means but do feel that the situation has been inappropriately mismanaged by the rental company. What would be a reasonable amount to request and what would our justification for the amount be. We live in Texas.

Why not suggest the company make a nice donation to a local homeless shelter, veterans organization, Texas State Troopers Association, city or sheriff's department, county juvenile home, Red Cross, or Salvation Army?

Your down payment..... Then you can spread the word about their terrible service. I do have a question.... If this was in a park.... but YOU were THERE why didn't you allow them to drop it the day earlier? You were there.

Apparently, OP did not need to use the facilities that day. The contractors schedule was irrelevant to them.
