FIRST OFF.... JUDGE AMY... I MAY BE YOUR BIGGEST FAN!!..... hope u see this

i recently was served with a order to have a hearing officer conference concerning visitation for my 6 year old son.... His mother has been incarerated for 4 years now with 6 more to go... her step-dad is requesting court ordered visitation.... BUT HES NOT RELATED TO MY SON.... i was just wondering if theres anything i should know before attending.

My advice is to stand your ground and DO NOT agree to anything in mediation.

I'm serious - don't agree in mediation. Make the pseudo-grandparent prove the case in court. Make him prove that he already has a long-standing bond with your son, and that not allowing him visitation would be detrimental to your son's wellbeing.

Unfortunately, it does appear that even step-grands can file for visitation in some states.
