I was recently involved in a small accident, and found out that I needed to file an SR-1 accident report to the DMV within 10 days of the accident. However, due to my inability to get in contact with the other party, I was not able to mail out the report until the 9th day after the accident. Since the 10th day was a Sunday, I'm sure it will not arrive at the DMV until after the 10 days are up, but it should be postmarked on the 9th day. Does anyone know if I am in danger of being penalized for this? The DMV website says that I must "file" within ten days or possibly get my license suspended. Please help if you know anything.
