Parole, Probation Can you travel overseas on unsupervised probation?

Hey, I'm just wondering about traveling overseas on unsupervised probation. I went to my lawyer and he portrayed it like it wasn't any problem, but it might be with the foreign government if I want to get a work visa, depending on the country. Well, I wanted to get off of it early and paid him $500.00, to help me get off of it 9 months early. I might go back and just get a refund, not sure yet, thanks.

I think you have a choice - either (a) pay your lawyer and let him handle it, haggle about price if it is "no big deal", or (b) do the research yourself and contact that foreign government or obtain the information to discuss it with your attorney before he expends time to try. It would seem that travel overseas when on probation might not be routine.

Some countries will allow people convicted of misdemeanors.

Some countries deny admission for drug convictions and violent crimes.

Some countries bar people convicted of any crime.
