I work at a school where someone distributed flyers alleging that a professor was having sex with a particular student. The school has no policy against this and the student is of age. The flyer didn't actually say "sex" but used a slang term that implies it. The student's first name and picture and the professor's name were on the papers. Can the accused be prosecuted outside the school?

The person who authored the flyer can't be prosecuted.

What is alleged to have been done isn't criminal.

If it isn't true, the professor and the student might have a civil case.

The problem is proving who did it.

Another problem for the professor or the student is if the allegation is true.

These kinds of allegations normally are.

Don't be surprised if nothing happens or if the Professor resigns.

Why are you concerned?

Are you the professor's paramour?

I'm a pre-law student and I work at the school. I know the student indirectly and if anything was going on, they were both keeping it hidden.
