officer wants to reissue ticket

Jurisdiction/Place: USA - Colorado

I was recently cited for a traffic violation, now officer called and said he made an error on ticket with court date and I need to drive an hour to get new ticket, do I really need to do so?

If it were me, I'd make him send the new ticket to me. I doubt he can force you to go to him and receive a new citation. It is likely a more complicated process to file the citation through the prosecutor or do the amendment, but it is not likely a requirement in your state to make his job easier in this way. You can do it if you want, but a polite, "Sorry, but I am not going to be in your town for the next couple of months," should be sufficient to compel him to pursue another legal avenue, drop the matter, or proceed on the original citation.

He left another message while I was out that if I don't comply with him he will issue a warrant, can he really do such?

That probably means that he will go the long way and pursue it through a filing with the DA. I admit I do not know the specific process in CO, but I suspect this is an elaborate bluff. But, in theory, it might pan out that he is able to file and obtain a warrant and that could be a greater problem than driving an hour.

Personally, I think that it is very unprofessional for HIM to foul up (by miffing the ticket) and then expecting YOU to go out of your way to fix HIS problem.

Perhaps you should also consider making an appointment to speak to his supervisor at the same time you expect to be there. I am not sure what good it might do, but if he is pulling this to protect his own tail, then maybe you just take away that anonymity for him.

You don't have to go to him. That is absurd. He can find a way to have you served with new papers if necessary. Until you are given something advising you of a new date, just plan to be there the date and time that is on the citation.... however there is a chance that if you show up to that court date they could just change the date, and you would have to go back again later... but no... you don't have to go to him.
If he calls you again and threatens you with warrants then just ask for his supervisor's name and tell the boss what is going on. The calls will stop.
