I was recently fired from a hotel for having a drink before work. I know it was wrong and I'm having to deal with it, but the employees there aren't making it easy for me. I ran into a guest I knew who frequented the hotel and he told me that an employee had informed him as to why I was fired. Is there anything I can do to get them to shut their mouths, especially to their customers?

not to mention that three out of four employees there smoke marajuana before work, and the GM knows this and does not care.

No, there is not. You did what they say you did. There is no law that prevented the GM from telling other employees why you were fired, as long as it was the truth. You can't stop people from telling the truth.

that depends on the state and employee privacy laws
