On the 18th of this month my roomate and I attended court for a eviction notice that we had recieved from the sheriff. We were being evicted for late payment of rent or nonpayment. During the trial (if you could call it that) the judge said that the plantiff was asking us to vacate and we told him that we had already found antoher place to live and that we were in the process of moving out. He said ok. He said that the eviction notice will stand just incase we decide not to leave. That was it. We told the apartment complex that we would try to have everything cleaned and moved by that afternoon. However we were unable to get done. The next day the locks were changed and now they have disposed of all the stuff that we had left in the apartment. Which was still quit a bit. Can they get rid of our stuff like that?

If that was when the eviction took place, yes. During an eviction, locks are typically changed and items in the rental unit are removed.

Some states require that the items be stored for a certain amount of time (the former tenants would be responsible for any storage fees).
