I am in the process of filing bankruptcy. I am making payments to a lawfirm. I received a letter in the mail from one of the credit card companies saying they are suing me. What should I do about this? Do I need to contact my lawyer? Can they sue me while I'm in the process of filing bankruptcy?

They can sue you up until you actually file-- the day that it is filed with the courts- is the day they have to stop--- You have just petitioned a attorney-- but I would tell them to contact your attorney

I am a fool, you have retained an attorney not petitioned-- duh sorry-- This is what you should call and tell the credit card company -- that you are filing bankruptcy and have retained an attorney and give them his name and number. They will more then likley put your account in a different work que and not bother you unless you dont file for a while
