I live in Az. and work for a company based out of state. I (probably) broke my finger at work yesterday - at least I'm pretty sure it's broken since it's very crooked and very painful. I assumed my employer would be paying for the medical expenses since it happened while I was on the job. I have been waiting for my boss or the HR dept. to get back to me on what Dr. or clinic they want me to go to. I thought all employers were required to provide workers comp. Maybe I don't know how this works. I need to get this taken care of and don't know what to do. I can't afford to pay the medical bills. Are they supposed to be paying these expenses?

File a claim in Arizona as I assume that is also where you work. If you do not work in Arizona, file a claim in the state where you work. If you do not know how to file a claim, contact the state office for workers compensation and they will give you the appropriate forms.
