Hi,

I submitted a report that the loss occured on 11/14 whereas the loss occured on 11/12. I have been covered by the insurance for past 5 months and the policy goes on till 5/2009. While submitting the report I was in panic mode and I said stuff w/o thinking.

I still have to submit a final proof of repair costs but if i go back to the insurance company and tell them the truth can this be grounds for dismissal of the claim? I plan to tell the truth and am feeling guilty about fumbling the dates.

From a legal perspective because I was covered by insurance at the actual time I feel this incorrect information is not material to the settlement of the claim but can this be grounds for prosecution ?

If you made a mistake it's not a big deal, just call your adjuster and let them know you made a mistake and got the dates mixed up.
