Is the auto repair shop ripping me off?

I have a car that need some brake work done on it. After getting a good report from a friend, i decide to go with the shop. Well as you all know, it didn't go so well. We agree(over the phone) to have the parts replace etc. Before agreeing to the repairs i asked the shop to just check the back brakes and see if the brake hoses were bad. The next day the shop calls me and said that while taking apart the back brakes, they broke the back Calipers. now they want me to pay for the new parts ($190.00). Should i pay them? If i should pay them and later just sue them? Do i have a case?

They are the ones that broke them, they should pay for them-- you should just pay for the brakes and the labor on the brakes not for repairs they caused. I would not pay them for the Calipers
