Quick question. My boyfriend was arrested on Friday and is currently being held at the county jail in the booking and receiving area. Will he be transfered to the jail in the county the charges are out of? How long does this usually take? If he is transfered will he go before a judge with a lawyer to discuss his bond amount? Thanks

Most counties have extradition limits of up to 10 days. Yes, he will be transfered to the county the charges originated out of, unless he caught new charges in your county as well, in which case he will either deal with thte new charges first, then go to the original county, or, in some cases, he might be caught in a tug of war game, in which he will go back and forth between counties for each court date. First appearances are generally within 24-48 hours of arrest, and this is where bond is set, unless he has a private attorney, he wont have one there, the court will appoint him a public defender. And finally, the extradition limits can, although it be unusual, be extended for up to 30 days.
