is my power of attorney legal?

is a power of attorney legal if it is notorized but not filed in the court?

Depends on the rules of your state. A POA ends at death.

the state is alabama. it also states in the power of attorney that it "cannot be changed or altered in any way until death." the problem is another family member has stepped in and took control with "another" POA without notifying me. he told my parents he talked with me about the change and i said ok, which i did not. is his POA legal? or is mine still in effect? and again is mine legal if notorized but not filed in court?
