Can my son be held responsible??

My son had surgery in 2001 he was a minor at the time and I signed the forms for him to be treated. The bill was put on his credit report in 2005 ruining his credit we have requested of all three credit reporting agencies that it be removed with no results. I'm not sure how to fix this for him.. I had to file bankruptcy in 2002 so I am no longer being hounded about the bill but can my son be held responsible for the bill now that he is of age?? Is it legal in the state of Indiana to put medical bills on a minors credit report after they turn of age???
Please any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. If you can just give me a site I can look it up would help I haven't been able to find anything for Indiana and their laws regarding a matter like this.
    Thank you,
    Laura
