If you still aren't receiving it, make sure you don't have a spam blocker that is preventing you from receiving the email (Earthlink is notorious for doing this) or contact support. If you are using free email like Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL or GMail, please look in your spam box and you may find our email there.


(2) HELP & ASSISTANCE BELONGS IN THE FORUMS, NOT PM!

If you are seeking answers to your legal questions then please only post IN THE FORUMS where you will get results. Our forums posts are not legal advice and will not be viewed as private consultations that might create an attorney-client relationship and create liability for the people who volunteer here.


(3) CREATING A NEW POST THAT WILL BE READ AND ANSWERED

(a) Post in the appropriate forum topic: Go to the main forums page and perform a careful look through the various categories to find the one appropriate for you. The chances of you receiving a quick reply are much greater by posting in the right forum that covers your area of law. People who know how to answer those questions will be there. Unless you are sending feedback, do NOT post in TheLaw Forums Feedback section or any general section.

(b) Do NOT double post your question: It is also not permissible to double post the same question in different forums. It will only serve to annoy the administrators, lawyers and users who will need to consolidate threads, etc. Take some time to find the appropriate forum! It takes just a little bit of work to get results!

(c) Enter a good title describing the issue: The "New Thread" button should appear in the upper left corner of the forum you entered if you are registered and logged in. After you have clicked the button you should see a form with a "title" field for you to enter the subject of your message. Make it informative and specific. "Landlord evicting me for late rent" is a much better subject than "Really need help now" because the first post conveys to a reader what the topic might be about and will reply -- but will likely ignore the latter more general format.

(d) Enter the state: Below the "title" field is a field for you to enter the state, country or jurisdiction that you are asking about. This is very important because the law varies from state to state in the US as it does provinces in Canada and in districts around the world from different countries.

(e) Describe the issue well: Type in your post into the main area. Make it as informative as possible -- remember, people are not at all familiar with the facts of your story. Don't make it too long winded, post mostly the details -- "just the facts ma'am!"

(f) Put in some relevant tags: Help others find your post with searches!
