I, from British Columbia, Canada, have been with my partner for more than ten years in a common-law relationship. When he moved in with my daighters and myself he had almost nothing. I had all the furniture, paid the bills, owned my own car. I basically supplied all. We accumulated a great deal of new belongings, after giving all my possessions away. We are now splitting up and I want to keep the apartment and whatever is allowed me, but he refuses to give me anything claiming that he bought it all. We were both working throughtout and I would like to know what I am entitled to. I only want to have what I need to start over, but would be glad to know what I have rights to. Thanks

Consult a lawyer in your area and ask if there are "palimony" laws in your province.
