Theft

Hey, i'm wondering how long someone has to charge someone with theft- There was a "situation" that suddenly got dropped after a few conacts with the police, they just stopped calling and updating what the people wanted to do about the situation- is there a time limit since the crime that they have to lay charges???

Statutes of limitations vary by state and may by province as well as by the nature and degree of the crime. Some places it is a year, sometimes more.
