Consumer Services the new Card Services Scam

This item was filed under [ Scams & Class Actions ]

While working on our news section of the site I received yet another automated telemarketing call with the same woman’s voice, telling me this was my final notice in order to lower my interest rates. How I wished this was the final call, this time from Daytona Beach, Florida at (386) 767-8027. However, the person who picked up to finagle me into a can’t lose deal was calling on behalf of “Consumer Services” - perhaps this is the new version of the infamous “Card Services” company that has taken the country by storm and unable to be stopped. For those of you who haven’t heard these calls, here’s an MP3 file of the Consumer Services aka Card Services call:  Consumer Services MP3. After responding to the caller that I did press 1 to lower my interest rates, they hung up on me - perhaps this person recognized my voice?

I get 5-10 calls everyday from these people. How do I make it stop?? I push option 2 to opt out… doesn’t work. I push option 1 to get a person. About 90% of the time, they hang up on me when I make a request for them to stop calling me. If they take my number to put on their own “do not call” list, they call me back immediately within minutes… How do I make it stop?????????????????

I’m about to post a summary to a news release - apparently the FTC has FINALLY begun to crack down on these criminals and has apparently shut down 2 major automated call centers. Details to follow shortly.

These people call me 5-7 times everyday, including Saturday. They put in some fake number so they cannot be contacted. I work from home, and these calls are interfering with my business. PLEASE someone tell me who to call to make them STOP. It is driving me crazy. When I do talk to someone and ask them to stop calling, nicely, they HANG UP on me. And then the very next day the incessant calling starts again. Help.

I just had one of those calls and when I asked who they were, the lady I spoke with told me that I ain’t your F******Mama. I am tired of these calls what can I do. I get several of them a week, most of the time they leave a message on my machine because I am not home.

I just got off the phone with this outfit. I informed the “live operator” that I wanted them to take my number off their list. His response was “no, maam”.
    I thought I misheard him.
“Do you mean that you won’t take my number off your list”. “That’s what I said maam”
“Do you have a supervisor?” “Yes maam”
“May I speak to him? “No maam”

    WOW

Incredible! Just recently several state attorney generals announced that they had shut down the main autodialer who serviced these jerks. Since then I’ve received perhaps a single call, maybe two, to my personal home phone. While I’m happy, this is not enough… they need to be punished and have pain inflicted upon them!

I just received a call from them - my first. I kept asking uestions and told her I wanted all the info in writing before paying the 29.99. She said she would talk to a supervisor. The next woman gets on the phone and I explain that I want some info before I sign up. She said they already told me everything. I mentioned the info again and they can’t negotiate for me until I pay. I don’t want negotiations until I find out about this service. She told me the $30 also covers paperwork and they can’t send it until I pay. I questioned her about that and she said she wasn’t talking to me if I wouldn’t stop yelling at her. Then she hung up on me. Now I’m concerned about future calls. Would we be able to file harrassment by phjone charges against them?

I feel like a real Dumba**. I received a call today from Card Services, a young fellow gets on the phone and says he can save me money on my credit card bill, specifically lowering my interest rate to 6.9%. I ask him if this was legitimate and he says “Yes, we couldn’t stay in bussiness if it weren’t”. This is where I mess up. I give him my Mastercard # so he can check my credit out and passes me through to the person who can ” SAVE ME MONEY”. At this point, I do a Google on Card Services and hit on about a thousand listings of it being a scam. After questioning the “MAN WHO CAN SAVE ME MONEY” he suddenly had a problem with studdering and says hold on then disconnects the line. I immediately called my credit card company and had them close my account and issue me a new card. The Customer Service Rep told me that no bogus charges could get through.
Major brain fart on my behalf, but these scum need to be jailed.
